Why Should You Consider Open-Enrolling Your Child to Blair-Taylor?
By far, our school district's greatest asset is its staff, who can be described as not just highly qualified, but also caring and committed.
All of our staff members, in their own individual ways, go above and beyond in order to better meet the needs of our students or to contribute to the mission of our school. Whether it is the teacher who plans extra trips because she knows her students will benefit from them, or the coach who puts in long hours because his players need the practice--our staff members consistently go the extra mile.
Blair-Taylor's staff members work together toward the collective goal of making sure all students are growing and learning--walking the Wildcat Way, while also achieving high levels of academic success. We are fortunate to have staff members who possess diverse strengths, skills, and experience levels. They highly value collaboration, allowing them to share ideas and build off one another's strengths.
***Please note: Staff and student pictures were taken during the 2019-2020 school year, prior to the COVID-19 outbreak. At this time, due to COVID-19, all students and staff wear face masks throughout the day.
In 2014, a building project, consisting of building an addition and renovating previously existing spaces, brought all of our students together in one building and culminated in the beautiful, state-of-the art facility we call the United Campus.
We are a one-to-one school district, meaning all students, grades K - 12, are issued a device to use for educational purposes. Students in grades K - 1 are furnished with iPads. Students in 2nd - 12th grade are provided with Google Chromebooks. Depending on their coursework, some high school students are supplied with a MacBook Air.
Since 2017, the Blair-Taylor School District has been part of the Trempealeau Valley Consortium.
This is a cooperative effort among Arcadia, Blair-Taylor, Independence, and Whitehall School Districts. This partnership allows the districts to offer students more options and opportunities than each of our small, rural school districts could on their own. For instance, our high school students have access to a Mobile Skills Lab and coursework related to robotics and electronics.
The overall mission of the consortium is to bring students a world-class collaborative educational system in a rural setting.
Middle/high school students have several career/tech-related organizations in which they can participate, including the following: Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA); Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA); Future Farms of America (FFA), and SkillsUSA.

Students in grades 9-12 have the opportunity to travel the country and the world by participating in a variety of clubs and organizations.
For example, they can join Culture Club. In 2016, students traveled to Italy and Greece. They spent 11 days exploring the ancient treasures in Rome, Pompeii, Athens, and cruised through the Greek Islands, relaxing and soaking up the sun! In June of 2019, students traveled to Switzerland and France. Highlights of this trip included: Einstein House, Brienzer Rothorn (Swiss Alps), Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, and the French Rivera.
The band travels every 4 years. In 2018, they went to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. They will be going to NYC in 2022. Students must be continuously enrolled in band to attend the trip.
Students also have the opportunity to travel by participating in Spanish Club, FFA, FBLA, or Mrs. Geary's trip to D.C. through EF Explore America.
Children ages 3-5 can benefit from our Early Learning Center, which serves students in four-year-old kindergarten, Head Start, and Early Childhood special education.
