This advanced course in accounting expands on topics learned in Accounting 1 while adding new topics about management accounting, cost accounting, not-for-profit accounting, and financial analysis. Another feature of Advanced Accounting is the use of computerized accounting. The course will explore a number of high-profile, ethical economic and accounting dilemmas including the Enron scandal and the recent economic meltdown.
The study of a second year of accounting may help to qualify students for jobs and careers at higher levels than one year study would allow. Advanced Accounting is also excellent background and preparation for college business and/or accounting courses. In addition, the cost, budgeting and financial analysis topics are useful tools for new entrepreneurs.
