Computer Applications is a course in which students will use a computer more efficiently through program knowledge and input device knowledge. You know how to use Microsoft Office to type a report, but can you use the program to make your work stand out? Computer Applications will assist you in knowing how to produce professional communication documents. By working through your in class assignments, you will reduce the time it takes you to create assignments for other classes as well as increase your knowledge of Microsoft Office.
MICROSOFT WORD INTRODUCTION
In Word the student will develop basic skills to create, edit, save, and print documents using word processing software. Format documents through use of fonts, spacing, margins, indent features, bullets, numbering, shading, borders, and tabs. Maintain documents by creating folders, moving, copying, and renaming documents, and using search. Apply special features such as headers and footers, page numbering, find and replace, templates, comments, tables, SmartArt, and mail merge to enhance documents.
MICROSOFT EXCEL INTRODUCTION
In this section of Excel the student will be introduced the basics of the spreadsheet. Students will create and edit worksheets, format worksheets and workbooks, work with formulas and functions, create and format charts, and enhance visual display of worksheets.
MICROSOFT POWERPOINT INTRODUCTION
During 2nd semester, students will be working with PowerPoint learning many facets of what makes a professional presentation. Students will be proficient in preparing and presenting in a professional format.
MICROSOFT ACCESS INTRODUCTION
Also during 2nd semester, students will have the opportunity to build, manipulate and prepare reports using Access as a database program. Employers are looking for employees who are proficient with working with a database program.
